This aircraft is the first on our Warbird "for sale" page for a very good reason. It is literally the best of the best. The original owner spent well over one million dollars restoring this very special L-39 ZO. It has a new wing and engine installed. The airframe was stripped done to an empty shell and every component rebuilt resulting in a reduction of 1500 lbs! Climb rates of over 4000 FPM are possible. Every major system has been upgraded with light weight and functionality in mind.
The ejection seats are the modern Russian Zvesda KSS-42 model, much easier on the human body. The fuel capacity has been doubled with enlarged tip tanks and 1000 liters of under-wing capacity. Hydraulic, electric, oxygen and pneumatic systems all have been upgraded with light weight, dependable components.
Perhaps the best part of this aircraft is the modern glass panel cockpit. Using Chelton Flight Systems front and back, coupled to a Crossbow AHARS unit, full flight situational awareness is achieved. Chelton incorporates a Highway-in-the-Sky flight director and the first synthetic terrain display.
