- Maintenance of the airplane is relatively simple and straightforward. Many owners report that the maintenance costs are similar to that of a Cessna 182. Your experience will vary depending on use.
- Due to the popularity of the aircraft, there are many maintenance facilities experienced in L39 service and maintenance there will always be maintenance available regardless of location in the United States. Some maintenance facilities will travel to the aircraft to perform routine or unexpected maintenance.
- Parts are readily available. Aero Volodochy a.s. currently makes a variant of the aircraft called the L159. Boeing is a partner with Aero Volodochy, supplying the avionics suite and weapons systems. L 39 parts are supported by Aero Volodochy a.s.
Introduction
The L39 advanced trainer is in daily use by the air force's of sixteen countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Its rugged and simple design has proved its qualities in every climate from desert summers to Siberian winters to tropical jungles. The aircraft's well-designed systems result in easy maintenance, excellent reliability, simple pre-flight checks, and no requirement for a full-time ground crew. The airframe has a proven service life of 6000 hours. A turbofan engine with low fuel consumption and low sensitivity to foreign object damage (FOD) is combined with high wing protected air intakes. This makes the aircraft ideal for operations from unimproved airstrips and for training. The excellent handling qualities make it one of the best training aircraft in the world.
